Houston rapper Paul Wall may have platinum plaques to his name but the "People's Champ" showed off his other knack by lacing G.O.O.D. Music's Big Sean with a new diamond-laced grill.

Sean showed off his fresh mouth piece on Twitter this week with a slew of photos alongside Wall.

Big Sean added some sparkle to his smile thanks to Houston rapper and go-to grill maker Paul Wall. The Detroit MC showed off his sparkly new accessory featuring a row of white and gold diamonds. “Hey mom, no cavities,” tweeted Sean, who was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2012 BET Awards. Last fall, Wall hit up SOHH and talked about the popularity of grills in the South.

“[In Texas,] we’ve been selling grillz for so long. They were around long before [becoming associated with hip-hop culture] and they will be around long after. It was so big in the hood and throughout the underground, but then it became a national trend and a fad. It even turned into something that went international. There’s a lot of people overseas that are still selling them. They blew up and people think they kind of went away. The trending and fad aspect of it has passed. It’s not a trend anymore. It’s not a fad anymore. From the people who have been wearing grillz and with the people that treat it like it’s a part of life, and part of the culture, it’s part of your culture and so you’re still going to wear them.” (SOHH Guest Star)

He also discussed the trend of people getting diamonds encrusted into their teeth.

“You’re still going to see people out in Houston, in the hood wearing grillz. We’re still selling a lot of grillz to entertainers and rappers, but the everyday person isn’t coming off work and saving up for grillz anymore. It’s more the ballers and the dope boys. It’s kind of like how it was in the beginning when it was just the ballers and the dope boys who were the ones that could go and get a grill. There’s some people who get a diamond actually encrusted onto their tooth. But that’s more of a European type of thing. Anytime I see people doing that, it’s usually people out in Europe. You might go out to Europe and see that walking down the street, but we don’t do that [in Texas].” (SOHH Guest Star)

A few years ago, Wall reflected on just how far back the grills business goes.

“They been around for years before us but we started doing them back in ’98. There was a guy from New York. He came down from Brooklyn came to Houston. He started promoting the removable style. That’s when it kinda just took off to a whole ‘nother level. We started opening up stores in the hood. Then we went to opening up stores in the malls.” (Monstro99 Fan)
