Cash Money Records boss Birdman has fully opened up about his relationship with Young Money’s Lil Wayne amid a publicized falling out.

Speaking to radio veteran Angie Martinez, Birdman denied having any real issues with Wayne.

“That’s my son, no matter what. I think what’s going on is just some business and my perspective is, I’ma to do whatever he wants to do but he’s still going to be my son, ain’t nothing going to change the fact that he’s still my son. I want him to make the decisions that he wants to make and whatever he wants to do with this game because I brought him into this game, I took us from nothing and turned us into something. That was my decision from the top to do this thing and I took it and brought it to another level which is something he’s supposed to do as a team – I put the brain thing together and he put the rap thing – but at the end of the day, no matter what, what he wants to do, I’m with it. That’s my son, I love him to death, he’s got my blessings and I’m going to support it no matter what he chose to do.” (Power 105.1)

The Cash Money boss also said he would let Wayne leave the company if he wanted to.

“I think media makes it worst than it really is,” Birdman said after revealing he still keeps in contact with Wayne. “We don’t scream at each other, I’m a man. … That’s my son, I respect him as my son. There’s no day where he’s speaking to me in a disrespectful manner. I don’t come from that cloth and I’m not going to speak to him in that cloth. That’s why I say he’s a man. He’s 30-plus. I swear on my kids – I’ll give them anything they think they might want. Cars. Jewelry. Houses. … I’m not going to let him go [off Cash Money] but if he wants to go, I’m going to respect his call. If he says he wants to go, I’m not going to stand in his way.” (Power 105.1)

Prior to denying his involvement, reports about Birdman allegedly throwing a drink at Wayne during a nightclub outing in Miami emerged a few weeks ago.

Weezy was onstage, next to the DJ booth when the drink was hurled from a VIP booth above … where Birdman was standing.
You can’t see it in the video, but sources inside the club tell TMZ … Birdman did it. Also, we’re told Wayne was doing his song, “CoCo — which is basically a diss track against Birdman and Cash Money. Seems crazy they’d show up in the same club — considering their legal feud — but both came out for a Jim Jones party. (TMZ)

Last winter, Cash Money rapper Nicki Minaj said the war between mentor Lil Wayne and Baby had a lot to do with music coming out.

“Cash Money is blessed, thank you for asking. We are a family and just like in families, we have our moments. But, you know what, I’ve gotten so much closer to Wayne lately. Wayne is his own person. He’s a businessman and whatever decision Wayne makes, I would never in my life speak against it publicly, even if I didn’t agree. So my thing is, and Baby has always been one of my best friends in the game. They love each other and it’s family. It’ll never go to another level. Everybody loves to hype things up but artists are emotional. We are emotional when it comes to our projects and when it comes to our fans and what our fans want and when they want it and sometimes that causes us to, you know, act emotional.” (Power 106 FM)

  1. Wayne rap career is on the decline and Baby knows it , he made his money off Wayne, but Baby ain’t taking no lost on another Wayne album. Wayne running to JZ , to save his rap career.

    • If that were true he would’ve already let Wayne out of his contract. Also birdman wouldn’t be suing jayz and tidal for putting out FWA for loss of potential money.

    • Hey Brain, You must not be smart enough to watch sports, because in sports when a player can’t play anymore he gets cut/waived/released or traded by the team he’s on!! If Baby knew Wayne was on the decline what would he gain by keeping him on the roster or under contract?!
