Cash Money Records' Birdman recently discussed Drake's name constantly coming up in negative rumors about his interest in leaving YMCMB and said Drizzy's there for the long stay.
Baby blamed the Internet, specifically bloggers, for fueling the bad press and making up the gossip.
Over the past two years there have been rumors every few months that Drake was planning his departure from the Cash Money/Young Money family, but according to Birdman, that’s just talk and gossip. “That’s just the business, people talk and blogs talk and sh– don’t really be having no truth to it,” he said. “Our relationship with Drake … that’s my lil brother. That’s the homie. That’s family. So there’s never been no friction. We’re just working hard, tryna give people great music.” (MTV)
Last weekend, Drizzy appeared at Birdman’s birthday bash in Houston, Texas and declared his loyalty to their team.
“I want to say happy birthday to the man that made it all possible,” Drake said at Birdman’s birthday bash during NBA All-Star Weekend 2013. “I got to tell you, tonight, it was an amazing All-Star Weekend — I just want to say that as I’m standing in front of you tonight as a man that’s about to be with Young Money, Cash Money for — I don’t know how many albums, I play for my team and I’m just happy to say that sh*t. … Toast to the Birdman tonight, happy birthday.” (“Derick G”)
Last month, a Young Money insider addressed rumors of Drake’s contract possibly being sold to rap mogul Jay-Z.
Earlier this morning, there was a report by MediaTakeOut.com that stated Drake would be possibly moving to Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation. Roc Nation and Cash Money/Young Money Records were reportedly working out a $50 million deal for the rights of Drake, which most likely includes his OVO brand, music and more. XXL contacted a source close to the situation that tells us that the rumor is simply not true. It is uncharacteristic of YMCMB to drop, sell and trade an artist as renowned as Drake. A few years ago, the Toronto native publicly lashed out at the rift gossip during a concert.
“I’ll tell you, if you ever wake up in the morning and you think Young Money ain’t my team, you out of your motherf*cking mind,” Drake told a crowd of screaming fans. “I’ll tell you that right now.
