Although proud of every record, Sean said Yeezy definitely has a favorite.

Kanye West does not appear on Hall of Fame, but things are still G.O.O.D. between Big Sean and his mentor. During his interview with Rap-Up TV, the Detroit MC revealed what Yeezus thought of his sophomore album. “He was jamming to it, he was proud of it,” said Sean. “There’s always some things that we may disagree on, but as an artist, you just gotta roll with what you wanna roll with. He definitely respects that and supports me and I support him.” But one song stood out to him the most. “Kanye’s favorite song was definitely ‘Mona Lisa,'” he said of Da Internz production. “He was the one who reminded me how good that song was. He really loves the beat and the words too.” (Rap-Up)

The Detroit native also said fans will likely have to wait until after Hall of Fame‘s release before hearing new Kanye West and Eminem collabos.

While he and ‘Ye did collaborate, he is keeping their record for his next album. “We did have a song, but I’m probably gonna save it for my next one ’cause it wasn’t really necessary for this one.” As for his collaboration with fellow Detroit native Eminem, the song was not completed in time to make the cut. “It was supposed to have been done by now, but it’s not all the way done. Like I said, you’ll get it, man.” (Rap-Up)

During a recent album listening session, Sean talked about putting together the sophomore album and how far he is willing to go to prove he’s an elite emcee.

“Sometimes people don’t consider Big Sean as one of the best rappers because Big Sean has only put out one album,” Sean explained. “Going into this album, I had the mind state of thinking, ‘All right, I’ve been on basically songs with everybody I really respect in the rap game.’ From Jay Z to Kanye to the newcomers, the new guys. And I always stand on my own, I always stand out and you can never say I’ve never done a feature where someone’s out-rapped me on and it’s crazy because a lot of those songs, I submit my verse first and then people like Kanye or Jay Z or whoever will get it. It just goes to show you I’m here for a reason, I wonder why people don’t consider Big Sean as one of the best rapeprs. They might consider J. Cole is one of the best rappers, they might consider Drake one of the best rappers. I’ll hop on a song with Drake and out rap him, you know what I’m saying? And that’s my homie. [laughs] I’m here to be a legend.” (Real Talk NY)

Last summer, B.I. said he would push hip-hop’s boundaries to become the best.

“He actually told me that I was going to be the best. But I took that as the potential, because he speaks with so much passion,” Big Sean said in an interview referring to Kanye West. “What he meant was, I’m his protégé, he took me under his wing. I’m in the studio hanging with him and Jay-Z, I’m in the studio with Nas, I’m in the studio with everybody, and it’s like, if I don’t take it past where they took it, then what the hell am I doin’?” (MTV)
