With his sophomore release finally on store shelves, Sean did not hold back in encouraging people to spend a few bucks on the new LP.

“Love to the real supporters! I wish I could go to all y’all houses and play #HOF wit y’all n kick it n talk about life!!,” Sean tweeted August 26.

“I give so much free music away (like the Detroit mixtape that was really an album, Control, etc). I do this sh*t for the people, for loyalty”

“So if u f*ck w/ me, ride w/ me, seen the vlogs on YouTube, or jus got love for #GOOD music support my new album #HallOfFame dropping tonight” (Big Sean’s Twitter)

Based on a new The Source magazine feature excerpt, Sean reveals what it took to convince Def Jam to release the LP.

“I don’t know, man. I don’t know how the public looks at me…But then I really don’t care anymore, too much, what people say because it’s kind of like I’m trying to prove a point to myself more than anything.” On the delay of his sophomore album, he had this to say about what it’s like to be among hip-hop heavyweights. “Even though I got signed to Def Jam, they were like, ‘you got to give us a reason to put your album out.’ I had to give them incentive to put my album out over a Rick Ross album, or a Rihanna album. I had to show them that I could do something for ’em.” (The Source)

Recently, Sean said G.O.O.D Music boss Kanye West has a favorite Hall of Fame track.

Kanye West does not appear on Hall of Fame, but things are still G.O.O.D. between Big Sean and his mentor. During his interview with Rap-Up TV, the Detroit MC revealed what Yeezus thought of his sophomore album. “He was jamming to it, he was proud of it,” said Sean. “There’s always some things that we may disagree on, but as an artist, you just gotta roll with what you wanna roll with. He definitely respects that and supports me and I support him.” But one song stood out to him the most. “Kanye’s favorite song was definitely ‘Mona Lisa,'” he said of Da Internz production. “He was the one who reminded me how good that song was. He really loves the beat and the words too.” (Rap-Up)

During an album listening session earlier this summer, Sean talked about putting together the sophomore project and how far he is willing to go to prove he’s an elite emcee.

“Sometimes people don’t consider Big Sean as one of the best rappers because Big Sean has only put out one album,” Sean explained. “Going into this album, I had the mind state of thinking, ‘All right, I’ve been on basically songs with everybody I really respect in the rap game.’ From Jay Z to Kanye to the newcomers, the new guys. And I always stand on my own, I always stand out and you can never say I’ve never done a feature where someone’s out-rapped me on and it’s crazy because a lot of those songs, I submit my verse first and then people like Kanye or Jay Z or whoever will get it. It just goes to show you I’m here for a reason, I wonder why people don’t consider Big Sean as one of the best rapeprs. They might consider J. Cole is one of the best rappers, they might consider Drake one of the best rappers. I’ll hop on a song with Drake and out rap him, you know what I’m saying? And that’s my homie. [laughs] I’m here to be a legend.” (Real Talk NY)
