Detroit-bred rapper Big Sean said Dark Knight Rises‘ predecessor had an edge over the new flick.

“Jus saw the dark knight rises… It was GOOD,” he tweeted July 22nd.

“Me, J Cole, and NO ID was all in the same theatre too w/ our people. good times”

“I liked the Dark Knight over the Dark Knight Rises, but that’s cuz of the villain” (Big Sean’s Twitter)

Music production team J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League ranked the movie over recent blockbuster superhero flick The Avengers.

“Dark knight rises over everything”

“Dark knight rises > Avengers” (J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League’s Twitter)

Frank Ocean shared a similar sentiment and co-signed The Dark Knight Rises.

“I’m in the movies for Dark Knight, can’t help but think of the Colorado shooting. Completely coldblooded.”

“& Batman was really good.” (Frank Ocean’s Twitter)

Although its running time is over two hours, the movie has received strong reviews.

From the moment “The Dark Knight Rises” opens, it is visually bold and masterfully paced. Sure it clocks in at Nolan’s preferred 2 ½ hour runtime, but the wildly choreographed action set-pieces are punctuated with character revealing pauses. The director and cowriter/brother Jonathan Nolan pay heed to Wayne’s wounded emotional arc. And the film is a feat of painstakingly crafted closure. Although Nolan knows that “closure” is a provisional notion. (The Denver Post)
