Barring any setbacks, B.I.’s new solo effort will officially drop this August.

Detroit rapper Big Sean has unveiled an Aug. 27 release date for his sophomore album, “Hall of Fame.” The album date was announced in a YouTube video released Saturday evening. The timing coincides with the rapper’s Aug. 31 concert at DTE Energy Music Theatre. Tickets for the show, $20-$75, are on sale now. “Hall of Fame” was originally due out in December but was held back as Big Sean tinkered with the album. It is the follow-up to Sean’s debut album “Finally Famous,” which was released in June 2011 and debuted at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums list. (Detroit News)

Last month, Sean talked about locking in studio time with hometown legend Eminem and Slaughterhouse’s Royce Da 5’9 also being there for the memorable experience.

“It was crazy just coming from Detroit. We sat and talked for a couple of hours, even before we did anything musically,” Sean revealed in an interview. “So, I was just telling them how much–how crazy it is man coming from The D. Them was the superstars. Them was the heroes in rap music. And they showed me that you can be worldwide. Cause it was always local heroes, but obviously one of the biggest rappers in the world is from Detroit. It was a big deal there. It was an honor man, straight up.” (NBC Nitecap)

Sean sparked some anticipation for an Em collaboration with an in-studio photo back in April.

“Today was historical http://instagram.com/p/YlZpfDj2tT/,” Sean tweeted Friday (April 26), with an Instagram shot with him next to Em. (Big Sean’s Twitter)

Recently, the Detroit spitter said fans could possibly see Slim Shady appear on the upcoming Hall of Fame album.

“Nah, I can’t confirm it,” Sean said in an interview when asked about a Slim Shady record going down. “But he may be on there. I’m pretty sure you’ll get an Eminem/Big Sean collab sooner or later. Whether you get it on Hall Of Fame, whether you get it after Hall Of Fame, [I’m] pretty sure you’re gonna get something.” (The Urban Informer)
