Big Kap’s Manager Reveals Cause Of Death, Last Phone Convo: “When I Talked To Him, He Was Fine”

Late New York veteran producer Big Kap reportedly passed away this week from medical complications.

According to Kap’s manager Ab Traxx, Kap suffered a fatal heart attack early Wednesday (February 3).

Legendary New York DJ Big Kap passed away from a heart attack early Wednesday morning (Feb. 3), his road manager, known professionally as Ab Traxx, tells Billboard. Ab also recalled the last time he spoke with Kap. “Last night when I talked to him, he was fine. He was on the computer at 1 a.m. and then I got the phone call at 4 in the morning from the artist he stays with, Bank Boy Drop. He’s an artist based out of Florida we was actually workin’ on.” When asked about potential health complications Kap may have had prior to the heart attack, Ab said, “Not that I know of. He had diabetes but I don’t think it had anything to do with [his death].” (Billboard)

Details of Kap’s unexpected passing emerged online Wednesday (February 3).

In a developing story, multiple sources have confirmed that veteran DJ and producer Big Kap has died.The New York mixmaster born Keith Carter was a DJ for The Notorious B.I.G., Nas, and others. Kap was also a fixture of 1990s NYC venue The Tunnel, a club notable for introducing some of Hip-Hop’s most classic records of the era. The cause of death has not been made public. (AFH)
