OutKast’s Big Boi has thanked his fans for going out and supporting his long-awaited solo debut, Sir Lucious Left Foot, and helping it land on the sales chart.

Writing via his Twitter page, Boi also recognized his album’s SoundScan placement.

“I would like to send a BIG STANK ya to everyone that BOUGHT the album! #weoutchea,” he wrote Wednesday (July 14) morning.

The album’s release was initially scheduled for 2008 and was later moved to last September.

“The status of the solo album is it’s coming,” Boi said in an interview. “September it’ll be here. Gotta new label situation that everybody gonna hear about real soon. I can’t give it to you right now, we gotta ink it. It’s going down, I think a lot of people are gonna see where we’re going with it. Complete that album, working on some other new stuff right now. [Andre 3000] is in Atlanta right now working on his solo record, he cut a couple of records. Then we’ll have a new Outkast album…I know y’all been waiting man, it took me like two years to finish it. I’m very satisfied. The label is ecstatic.” (DJ Booth)

However, complications with Jive eventually forced him to ink a deal with Def Jam.

“It was a lot of behind the scenes, label politics,” Boi told hip-hop personality Gyant referring to his album delay. “A lot of people don’t know, we started at LaFace Records with LA Reid…as of maybe three weeks ago [Jive] gave me the opportunity to take the album elsewhere, I called my big brother LA Reid, he said meet me in Miami the next day. We flew to Miami, played him the music, he said let’s do it, deal is done..I’m not even concerned about nothing but me. People might say [Def Jam] doesn’t have any hot artists but he got the number one record with Ludacris‘ last week…my album is a musical nuclear bomb…The OutKast album, I can’t really say which label it’ll be on because I really don’t know which label it’s gonna fall. I’m gonna put my solo album out first, Dre is working with his solo album right now…” (Gyant Unplugged)
