If all goes accordingly, Boi will trade bars with his partner in rhymes for the upcoming Daddy Fat Sax sophomore solo album.

“I think it’s very much possible because we have L.A. Reid in our corner now, and he was the first to sign Outkast,” Big Boi said, referring to the record executive’s recent jump from chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group to Epic Records. If all goes well, that move should undo the label roadblocks (Big Boi has a solo deal with Def Jam, while Outkast is signed to Jive) that kept the pair’s “Lookin’ for Ya” collaboration off of Big Boi’s 2010 solo debut, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. Last week, Boi said he is practically ready to drop Daddy Fat Sax.

The Atlanta native revealed that he’s 17 songs into Daddy Fat Sax and could release it tomorrow if he wanted to. “I’mma marinate on it because I’m on the road. I feel good about it, all the music’s sounding great.” Sir Lucious Leftfoot also touched on the overall sound of the album, saying that it would be “S-A-X-X-X triple unadulterated funk to the extremest level.” He also went on to say, “Straight lyrical assassin, and the beats are going to be as hard hitting as always. I’mma let everything else be a surprise, and just let it speak for itself.” (Complex)

In February, he said the project had six songs already in the chamber.

When he’s not on the virtual gridiron — where, he says, he enjoys playing either as Tom Brady and the New England Patriots or his hometown Atlanta Falcons — Big Boi is keeping busy with new music. The 36-year-old says he’s “five or six songs deep” into his next album, the follow-up to 2010’s acclaimed “Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty.” “I’m in the studio working on some new material, producing a couple records for outside artists and on tour,” he explains. “I’m booked up until September. While I’m not on the road I’m in the studio, rockin’ shows and droppin’ flow.” (Billboard)

In 2010, Boi discussed some initial concepts for his Sir Lucious follow-up.

“I got about four, five songs that I’m tinkering with right now,” Big Boi told MTV News about Daddy Fat Sax, tentatively slated for a late-2011 release. “But at the same time, there’s a couple of records that we picked out for the Outkast record too. So while [Andre 3000] is working on his records, we’re kinda, with Organized Noize, seeing what’s gonna go for the ‘Kast album. And at the same time, with the beats I already got, I’m just making the most out of my time, whether I’m on the road touring or just on the bus or whatever; just putting ideas down.” (MTV)

A release date for Daddy Fat Sax has not yet been announced.
