Although an official announcement is not expected until tomorrow, reports of the big gig flooded the Internet Tuesday (October 16).

Get ready for months of “put a ring on it” jokes. Beyonce, the pop superstar whose hits include Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), Crazy in Love and Halo, will perform at the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show on Feb. 3, 2012, according to the Associated Press. The 31-year-old will take the stage at the Mercedes Benz Superdome during halftime of this season’s NFL championship game. It will be the first Super Bowl held in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina. Knowles-Carter will have large shoes to fill after music icon Madonna rocked last February’s Super Bowl halftime stage.

Madonna performed at halftime at this year’s Super Bowl in February with guests CeeLo Green, Nicki Minaj, LMFAO and M.I.A. The New York Giants beat the New England Patriots in a thrilling rematch of the contest four years earlier. Her performance was seen by 114 million people, a higher average than the game itself, which was seen by an estimated 111.3 million people, according to the Nielsen Co. (Associated Press)

Past music acts to grace the annual event include the late Michael Jackson and U2.

Both sides are expected to make an official announcement about the show sometime tomorrow. Beyonce will follow in the footsteps of Madonna … and a slew of old white guys including The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, U2, Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson. (TMZ)

Outside of performing, Bey has also kept busy playing mom to nine month-old Blue Ivy Carter.

“It just gives you purpose and all of the things my self-esteem was associated with, it’s all completely different. I’ve realized why I was born and more than anything, all of the things I want to pass on to my child and the best way of doing that is not by preaching or telling her, but showing her by example, which is one of the reasons I’m here. I sing nursery rhymes and I’m mommy. Today was the first time she saw me perform in rehearsal. She was very confused. [What nursery songs do I sing?] I make up a lot of crazy, corny songs. I’m not singing it, unless you do ‘Single Ladies.’ [laughs] [Changing diapers, my husband,] he’s very good. I love changing diapers. I love it. I love every moment of it. It’s so beautiful. I really do. I love changing diapers. I love it all.” (Anderson Live)
