Married music duo Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Jay Z kept fans awake last night (September 27) after coming together to perform at the third annual Global Citizen Festival in New York.
The high-profile couple took over Manhattan’s Central Park for the global awareness-themed event.
During her husband’s set, which aired live on MSNBC, Mrs. Carter made a surprise appearance to perform “Holy Grail.” As the crowd of 60,000 put their lighters in the air, the superstar couple dueted on “Young Forever.” “Peace and love,” said Jay as he exited the stage with his arm around his wife. The festival, whose goal is to end extreme poverty by 2030, also featured performances from No Doubt, The Roots, and Alicia Keys, who performed her new single “We Are Here.” (Rap-Up)
