Singer/actress Beyonce Knowles is currently on the prowl, searching for beatsmiths to incorporate new sounds for her upcoming I Am...Sasha Fierce follow-up.
According to “Whatever You Like” hitmaker Jim Jonsin, Beyonce’s camp has put in a request for a collaboration.
“Beyonce, that’s something, we just got a call the other day to start napping that up,’ Jonsin revealed in an interview. “We’re gonna get in for a week or two so that’s something I’m excited about. We’re submitting tracks to her, see if she’s digging the direction and if she does, then we’re gonna follow that direction. I think she’s trying to find sounds that she likes from different producers. There’s a couple of us she’s working with and then from that, we’ll get in and cut songs. I haven’t heard anything yet of where her head’s at. I’d love to reach a little more, coming off that ‘Sweet Dreams’ record, I’d like to take it a little more, Depeche Mode-ish, 80’s electro with just some hard drums. I’d love to go there. Even some sexy, mid-tempos — see if she likes that and I’ll try that too.” (Rap-Up TV)
Earlier this month, songwriter/singer Ne-Yo said Beyonce had begun making progress on the LP.
“It’s coming along nicely. I can’t speak too much on it, but it’s another direction for her, and she’s carving out her own niche,” he told Access Atlanta. “In a minute nobody will be in Beyoncé’s lane. They really can’t get in her lane now, but they really can’t get in her lane after this album.” Mrs. Carter may be enjoying life at home with Jay-Z, but she appears eager to return to the lab. Jim Jonsin hinted that he might be getting back in the booth with B after sending her some music to listen to. “She may be recording, she may not,” the “Sweet Dreams” producer told Rap-Up TV in May. Last February, Beyonce opened up about wanting to break away from music for a while.
“I’m ready to take some time off,” she said in an interview withtelevision host Tyra Banks. “I actually leave today and go to Brazil (which I’ve never been there). I’m going there to work which I am finishing my last leg of my tour. I’m filming a video with Alicia Keys there. I’m so excited to work with women. I’m a girl’s girl so to show that women that are successful can support each other and have a good time, I’m just so happy to bring that message across with [Lady] Gaga and Alicia Keys.” (Necole Bitchie)
Beyonce’s I Am…Sasha Fierce has earned the singer multiple Grammy awards and sold millions of copies since being released in fall 2008.
To date, total worldwide sales are well over six million units, and the digital tracks from the album in the U.S. have sold more than 12.3 million of units. The album garnered eight nominations at the 52nd Grammy Awards, and eventually won five Grammys, including three for one of the album’s two lead singles.
