Along with wanting to make the president proud, Bey also said she did not get enough time with her orchestra to feel confident in delivering a top-notch performance.

“I practice until my feet bleed and I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra. Due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking a risk,” she told press. “It was about the president and the inauguration, and I wanted to make him and my country proud, so I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track, which is very common in the music industry. And I’m very proud of my performance.” (The Independent)

A few days ago, Bey appeared to answer the lip-synch controversy through her Instagram page.

After teasing her fans with a sneak peek of her rehearsals for her upcoming Super Bowl XLVII halftime show, Beyonce is tackling the question on everyone’s mind. The pop star seemingly addressed her headline-making Inauguration performance with a bit of casual fashion. The 31-year-old star posted a photo of herself on Instagram sporting a sweatshirt with the words “Can I live?” written on it. (Access Hollywood)

Days prior, confirmation on the singer’s lip-synching came from an inaugural rep.

An inaugural official who asked not to be identified told CNN Wednesday that pop star Beyoncé lip-synced her performance on Inauguration Day. “She did not sing live,” the official told CNN. A pre-recording of the artist’s rendition of the National Anthem was played instead. What was heard by spectators and viewers was the sound of that recording, according to the official. (CNN)

With Bey slated to perform at this weekend’s Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans, chatter has already developed on whether or not she may use the same tactic.

The Black Eyed Peas chose to sing live during their Super Bowl halftime performance two years ago – and they were panned by critics and fans alike. Pop icon Madonna elected to lip-synch during super-hyped halftime performance at the Super Bowl last year, but she said it was one of the most nerve-wracking experiences of her career. There was already a lot of pressure on Beyonce to deliver at this upcoming Super Bowl, now there is certainly even more pressure. “It’s very difficult to sing and dance at the same time,” Mike Stevens, vocal chair at The Colburn School in Los Angeles, told ABC News. “So I would not be surprised if she lip-syncs.” (Forbes)
