Hours after the near-fatal shooting of "Love & Hip Hop" star Benzino in Massachusetts, photos from his stay in a hospital have surfaced online.

A spokesperson for Benzino released the following statement: “[Benzino] was shot in the shoulder while attending his mom’s funeral. By his side is his Dad, long time business partner Dave Mays, friend Stevie J and his fiance Althea Heart. At this time we ask that you keep Benzino in your prayers as we are hoping for a speedy recovery.” Benzino’s “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” castmate Stevie J. posted pictures of his visit to the hospital. According to reports, Benzino suffered a gunshot wound to his arm during a funeral proceeding yesterday (March 29).
A relative of hip-hop producer Benzino was busted Saturday for shooting the reality show star as they drove to his late mother’s Massachusetts sendoff, according to WHDH-TV in Boston. The “Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta” favorite was blasted in the right arm while driving through Duxbury on the way to St. Peter’s Church in Plymouth, authorities said. (NY Daily News)

Gai Scott, 36, of Randolph, has been charged with one count of assault with intent to murder in connection with the non-fatal shooting of Raymond “Benzino” Scott, 38, just before noon today on Route 3 on the way to his mother Mary Scott‘s funeral, Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said. Raymond Scott was driving a red Dodge SUV when his nephew, driving a Bentley, pulled up next to him and “fired several shots” into the vehicle, Cruz said. (Boston Herald)

The family says that there has been growing tension between the rapper and his nephew for some time. The funeral was for Benzino’s mother, Mary Scott, who had passed away on March 20. There was no sign that anything had gone wrong until the hearse, containing his mother’s casket, pulled up to the church with blood on it — according to Father William Williams. (Hollywood Life)
