[After recently putting out his Accession To The Throne mixtape, Feed The Wolves’ Banknote Mitch talks to SOHH about his relationship with former G-Unit affiliate Bang Em Smurf, coming out of North Carolina and more.]

I reached out to Bang Em Smurf and he had his Feed The Wolves label situation going on. He signed me and that’s what it is.

I reached out to Bang Em Smurf with some music. A lot of people had reached out but I hit him up and when he heard my music, he said it touched his heart.

He heard a lot of music but [my song] “My Partner” is the one that he really loved.

I have talked to Bang Em and our relationship is not just an artist one. Bang Em is all about loyalty. We clicked on that level. It’s not just a business level. He hits me up just to make sure I’m straight at this point.

We talk just about everyday and it’s not always just about music. We talk about everything.

In Charlotte, North Carolina, there’s not a big hip-hop scene because we’re overlooked. There’s a lot of artists that just don’t make that mainstream platform.

There’s artists down here that are rapping but they’re not going anywhere. I’m the only one. I’m setting the platform for everybody.

There’s no unity out here. Everyone is trying to put on for themselves. That’s why I just stepped to the side. I was trying to bring everybody on point but everyone wants to do it on their own.

If you’re up, they want to put you down. There’s no unity out here.
