With the presidential election weeks away, Bad Boy Records' Machine Gun Kelly recently gave his take on the value of locking in a vote this November.
No matter the presidential candidates, MGK said voting at least gives you an opportunity to make your voice heard.
Machine Gun Kelly, who identifies himself as an anarchist, found truth in Ryan Leslie’s stance. “As a youth, you don’t make an impact — at least you don’t feel as if you make an impact,” he said. “Voting for the presidents is like voting for the lesser of two evils.” Instead, Kells echoed Leslie’s sentiment in hopes of getting kids more involved in their communities. “What you were saying about youth can come out and start by helping their community, I felt like that’s really where our views can mesh,” he said. Recently, former Shady Records artist Ca$his hit up SOHH with a similar sentiment.
“As far as real politics, man, I’m not a politician,” Ca$his told SOHH when asked for his take on the upcoming presidential election. “I feel you should vote, I’m a felon, so they’ve scratched that out for me. I do feel if you have a chance, an opportunity to change something, then you should do it. Of course I rock with Obama. He’s coming out of Chicago, so of course I’m rocking with him all day. That’s where I stand and I don’t get too deep in to it because then I’ll start putting in my words and you’ll start spinning if off on people. You can choose whoever you want, vote for what you want and whatever legislation you’re feeling right now. I just want them to go ahead and make weed legal all the way to California and we good. A few days ago, rap veteran Snoop Dogg revealed his support for President Barack Obama.
Snoop Dogg posted a “Why I’m Not Voting for Romney” list on his Instagram page … which is totally blowing up … and it includes reasons like, “He’s a white n**ga” … and “He’s a ho.” The list — which people are saying was written by someone else — includes: — “He is a white n**ga.” — “He looks like he says ‘n**ga’ all the time” — “He always interrupts and talks over people like he’s better than them. Bitch, I will beat the sh*t out of you.” — “He’s a Mormon but he ain’t got no hoes.” The post also includes the top 10 reasons to vote for Obama … including the fact that Michelle has a “fat ass.” (TMZ)
Last week, rap veteran Nas gave his first public service announcement to help encourage voting.
“The future of this country is in the hands of the young people. We have the power. We can go to the polls and droves — and vote to get the person that we want. We can do that,” Nas said in his first-ever PSA. “Now that I’ve voted, I feel so much power that I didn’t feel before. I feel like I’ve got power, like what I say matters.” (Our Time)
