Cash Money Records' co-founder Baby has reflected on signing Bow Wow to his label over a year ago and not regretting the decision despite critical speculation from music critics.

For Baby, he views Bow Wow as a certified super star who has already proven himself valuable.

“I think Bow Wow is great. He has a great record out right now with him and Chris Brown (“Aint Thinkin’ About You”). I think Bow Wow is going to surprise a lot of people with his album. I see greatness in the young boy. Remember, Bow Wow is already a star. He has platinum albums and [movies]. But now he’s in a different atmosphere; with a different crew. All I’m doing is bringing that great music to him; I’m putting him with the Waynes and the Drakes and letting him do his thing. But at the end of the day, Bow Wow has to do him. And he’s adjusting great.” (VIBE)

Last year, former Cash Money Records artist Juvenile hit up SOHH to share his thoughts on Bow Wow carrying on the label’s legacy.

“Eh, they got some big shoes to fill,” Juvie said about the Cash Money newcomers carrying on the legacy. “That’s all I can say, I don’t know anything about Jay Sean, I know about Bow Wow. Even Bow Wow pretty much was always a favorite of Baby’s because they were cool. Bow Wow did always look up to Lil Wayne, I mean, it’s not a bad look for ’em. I think it’ll be a plus for Bow Wow being on Cash Money to be honest because they’re capable of doing some big things with artists.” (SOHH)

After announcing a rap retirement in early 2009, Bow Wow later signed with Baby’s Cash Money Records.

“To the naysayers, I hope that you give me the opportunity to earn your respect,” he wrote Tuesday (August 18) night. “I know that over the years I’ve put many of my faults on display which I make no excuses for. I’m young and I’ve made mistakes and I will make more. No different than any other 22 year old, I still have some growing up to do…To anyone who’s confused or says I don’t belong in Cash Money. Let me remind you that I’ve been down with Baby, Slim, Wayne and the whole Cash Money family from the beginning.” (Global Grind)

In August, Bow Wow said he would work on his Cash Money Records debut with help from rap veteran Jadakiss.

“The status on the album, I haven’t started on it yet,” Bow Wow revealed in an interview. “I have Jadakiss on board. Me and Jada, we’re gonna complete my whole entire album. I got Jada as the ambassador of my album. I did that because I wanted somebody who was well respected in hip-hop to challenge me. And coming with the Green Light mixtapes that I’ve been coming out with, the response I’ve been getting, I just want to take it to another level so what other way than to have one of the greatest of all time right now and that’s Kiss and that’s my man. So we’re about to get down and do it real big. It’s [Cash Money Billionaires], you know what time it is baby.” (Real Talk NY)
