In light of last week's presidential election, SOHH chopped it up with Atlanta's B.o.B to get his reaction to President Barack Obama staying in office for another term and the outcries from Mitt Romney supporters.
Bobby Ray acknowledged Obama’s history-making win and how society has changed over the past 60 years.
“It’s so funny because back in the Civil Rights days Black people were protesting, and now that Obama won White people are protesting,” B.o.B. told SOHH. “But overall, I think it’s a great win for people to come together as a country and be united in one movement. I think that’s really the main thing. For the people that are in the past and still see the world in black and white, let them be there. They can stay there, but we’re moving forward and onward.” (SOHH)
Following President Obama’s win, Hollywood actress Stacey Dash went on a rant after watching Mitt Romney lose.
“I haven’t heard much from anyone (including the people heaping insults my way) about the great things Obama HAS done for our country, like repairing the infrastructure of our highways, bridges and train rails and creating a lot of jobs by this program. […] I also don’t understand why more people aren’t acknowledging the good that has come about thanks to Romney’s Massachusetts medical coverage for all citizens. In addition, Romney’s business acumen is sterling. Our country needs a savvy business manager with the ability to work on both sides of the aisle. Paul Ryan is another brilliant mind with a viable plan for the economy of this country. They’ve injected so much energy into the race. We need that ambition and focus to get our country back on its feet. […]” (Statement)
In October, Grammy-winning singer Alicia Keys spoke to SOHH about endorsing President Obama.
“He’s been raised by a super strong woman; he married a super strong woman; he raising two incredibly strong women; so he’s personally connected to what is important with women’s issues,” she added. “I think that’s such a big deal to us, we can’t just let that go to anyone. We have to be really, really, really focused on making sure that every woman that we know is going out vote for someone that we know know is going to support and continue to encourage us to be and get everything that is our just due. Anything other than that is just not the right thing.” (SOHH)
A couple years ago, B.o.B. got invited to perform for the president’s National Gen44 Summit concert in Washington, D.C.
The Atlanta native will travel to Washington, D.C. to perform at the historic DAR Constitution Hall on September 30 as the featured performer for the “National Gen44 Summit Kick Off Concert with President Barack Obama.” The three-day gathering was created by the Democratic National Committee to cultivate and empower young leaders.
