Details on his arrest hit the Internet Monday (September 20) morning.

Singer and songwriter Bruno Mars was arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession early Sunday morning at the Hard Rock, Las Vegas police confirmed. Sgt. John Sheahan said Mars, whose real name is Peter Hernandez, was arrested at 2:40 a.m. Sheahan said Hard Rock security confronted him in a bathroom and discovered him with narcotics. Sheahan said he did not know Sunday afternoon what drug Mars possessed. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)

Prior to the arrest, Bruno tweeted about being in Las Vegas over the weekend.

Mars is one of the latest entertainers to get arrested on drug charges since celebrity Paris Hilton‘s bust last month.

Mars’ arrest came on the heels of another star dodging a legal bullet after a possession arrest in Vegas. Following her August 27 arrest outside a Las Vegas hotel in which police found 0.8 grams of cocaine in her purse, Paris Hilton will avoid jail time for felony cocaine possession case with a plea agreement that will allow her to serve a year of probation but no time behind bars. Aside from his arrest, Bruno is currently preparing the release of his debut album.

Prior to the arrest, Bruno, who co-wrote B.o.B’s “Nothin’ on You” and Travis McCoy‘s “Billionaire.” His new single “Just The Way You Are” is currently #1 on the Billboard Hot Digital Tracks and #6 on the Hot 100. Mars’ debut album, ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans,’ is currently set for an October 5, 2010 release. He will open for Maroon 5 on the fall leg of the Hands All Over Tour starting October 6, 2010. Mars will also co-headline with Travie McCoy on a European tour starting October 18, 2010. (Singersroom)
