Based on excerpts from her December feature, Banks calls herself the female Yeezy.

‘Kanye is a genius. Kanye and I are like the same person but boy and girl. We’re pulling from the same cloud, the same inspiration. We’re both Geminis, we’re the two premier avant gardists in hip hop music. It’s just me and him. I think our consciousnesses are swirling around each other in some weird kind of way…’ (ELLE UK)

Azealia also discusses how she’s able to remember words when she raps.

‘It’s muscle memory, when you’ve done something over and over and over. When I’m writing stuff that’s really fast, I’ll speed the beat down to maybe 4 or 5 BPM, rap it at a different pace then speed it up.’ (ELLE UK)

Last year, Banks downplayed receiving mainstream accolades from Mr. West.

The Harlem-born 20-year-old seems almost aggressively unastonished by the attention. “I definitely have more money [now] and sh*t,” she admits, “but that’s all virtual stuff. I’ve been making music for a while. And I could read about myself on the Internet for a while.” And meeting the likes of Kanye? “It’s cool, but they’re just people. The skies don’t part and glow orange.” As Banks begins recording her first album, is she listening to anyone for inspiration? “Everyone,” she says, but mostly “Azealia Banks.” (GQ)

Former Ruff Ryders member Eve previously dished out how much she respects the New York native.

“I like Azealia Banks. I think her style is dope. If you listen to her lyrics, she knows how to wordplay and I think that’s cute. I’m not really into the Iggy Azalea chick. I can’t really f*ck with her music, but her look is crazy. I just can’t believe it.” (Women of Hip Hop)
