Although the two aren’t as close as they once were, AZ said he has the utmost respect for Nas.

“He’s legendary in the game, that’s my man,” AZ said in an interview with Mikey T The Movie Star. “Everything is a blessing. Like I said, just being here and doing what I’m doing is a blessing. And you know with the work that Nas put in, it’s self-explanatory, it’s my boy. I mean that’s him, you always seen he was going that route. He’s for the peoples, man. We all go through our lives and journeys and people pick different paths and I think that’s a good path. We need it out here.” (Movie Star Status DVD)

The rapper also recalled his days as a member of mid-1990’s rap crew, The Firm.

“That sh*t was a blessing,” AZ added reflecting on his time in The Firm. “That’s just like, I was dreaming and living at the same time. From the first album to doing the supergroup thing and Dr. Dre. That was a blessing, everybody know that they f*ck with Dr. Dre, it’s all day.” (Movie Star Status DVD)

In May, AZ discussed the possibility of a Firm reunion album being released.

“The Firm album which came out in ’97 featuring Nas, Foxy, myself, Nature and Cormega, we actually working on a couple of records so far,” AZ revealed in an interview. “Nothing is confirmed, without Nas though, but with Foxy and Cormega, so anything is possible. Keep your eyes open, you dig? The Nas and Damian Marley joint, I mean it’s cool. I didn’t really get to hear it too much but it’s good for hip-hop, it’s all good.” (Montreality)

Last year, AZ talked to SOHH about reaching out to Nas for his upcoming Doe or Die 2 album.

“I mean, I reached out to him, uhm, I think he’s going through a couple of whirls, he’s going through a lot of situations so we haven’t really sat down and politic’ed and talked about everything,” AZ explained. “Actually, I did reach out for this Doe Or Die 2, that’s what I’m working on, the Doe Or Die 2 stuff. Raekwon did the Cuban Linx [2], and The Blueprint 3 and the Carter III and IV, so them sequels do good in the marketplace. So I’m trying to do this Doe Or Die 2, I reached out to him, I haven’t gotten feedback as of yet, but like I said, look at what he’s going through.” (SOHH)
