This time around, Roth said it was vital to not rush out his music despite the album being initially slated to drop over the summer.

“I’m not just trying to put out a song, make quick money and get out of here,” Roth promised in an interview. “I wanna put something together that’s gonna last, that people are going to appreciate, listen to and they’re going to break it down. Personally, I love it when people take the time to break it down, every single song on the album — we’re making the best music with the people that want to be a part of it. Not just, ‘Hey, can I get a quick check and get out of here.’ Anybody who knows me knows that I have no budget at all. Anybody within this circle of friends knows I’m working purely off a wing and a prayer. But yo, it’s been fun…” (Vlad TV)

When recently asked about guest features, Ash said he was not planning to force the LP into stores.

“We haven’t really got there yet. Not yet. Game got on ‘Splish Splash’ because he was just there in the studio. I think it’s great to make the music and then figure out who would sound good on what. Robin Thicke did get on one though, but we’ll see if it’ll stick around. I just linked up with Cannon and I still want will.i.am to come holla at me because I want to talk some “Joints and Jams” type shit. He’s super talented. It really just comes down if they want to do it or not at this point. I don’t have big money. I mean wish I could say lets get in the studio for a million dollars but it’s just not like that.” (VIBE)

Last month, Roth said he was working with a variety of producers.

XXL Freshman alum Asher Roth is preparing to drop his sophomore album, The Spaghetti Tree. He recently spoke with DJ Skee, giving some details on the album, including that he’s working with a range of producers including Nottz, DJ Khalil, Ryan Leslie, Don Cannon and Oren Yoel, who handled the bulk of production on Asher’s 2009 debut, Asleep in the Bread Aisle. “The second time around, the sound is esoteric,” the Pennsylvania native told Skee. “It’s spacey. It’s dope, though. But it also has this really earthy, organic sound. So, if that even makes any sense, it’s kind of the air and the earth.” (XXL Mag)

Earlier this year, Roth talked about linking up with Pharrell Williams for his solo effort.

“We linked up in Miami,” he explained in an interview. “Very good chemistry as far as creating music. We was down there while it was all snowy in New York. We had a blast. I think we have some really beautiful music for warm weather. He really is a genius. Working with him, it’s really fast. We wound up doing 12 recordsin 12 days, which is really good numbers. It’s quick. He gets an idea and he harnesses that idea really quick. It’s cool when someone like me gets to step into the studio with him. I feel it’s probably different vibes…We wrote 12 different records. We didn’t try to write one record 12 times — we have stuff all over the map, from live drums that are going to incorporate itself well into a live show…I’m excited for you guys to hear that stuff.” (MTV)

A release date for the album has not yet been revealed.
