Danity Kane Tops Flo Rida, Gnarls Barkley Are The Odd Men Out
In this week's Hip-Hop and R&B charts, Danity Kane snags the number one spot again, Flo Rida's debut lands a seat in the top 5 and Gnarls Barkley are off to another slow start.
Danity Kane has made Diddy proud as the quintet's sophomore album Welcome to the Dollhouse debuts at No.1, with 236,400 copies sold according to the Nielsen Soundscan. This marks the second straight number one album for the "Making the Band" starletts. Enjoying the second-biggest debut week of the year, it's safe to say the girls kicked the "b*tchassness" epidemic to the curb.
After speedin' past Snoop Dogg and Fat Joe to snag the No. 1 spot last week, Def Jam recording artist Rick Ross comes in at No. 3. With 90,300 copies of Trilla sold, Mr. M.I.YAYO's sophomore set as totaled 289,300 in two weeks.
After making history by selling over 3 million digital downloads of his infectious single "Low," Flo Rida lands at No. 4 after pushing 86,000 copies of his debut Mail On Sunday. Hopefully the Sunshine State rapper's second single "Elevator" will keep his debut rising.
Snoop Dogg's Ego Trippin, drops down four spots to No. 7 this week after debuting at No. 3. The veteran's ninth studio album pushed 57,300 copies bringing the Doggfather's total to 194,200.
Alicia Keys holds steady at No. 13. The Hells Kitchen native sold 40,600 of her third studio As I Am. After 19 weeks, the album has scanned a whopping 3,317,800 copies.
After topping the charts with her tenth studio album Janet Jackson's, Discipline, continues to decline, falling to nine spots to No. 17. With 33,500 copies sold the R&B legend has amassed 310,000 albums.
Gnarls Barkley second album Odd Couple sold 31,000 copies, good enough for the No. 18 spot. The disappointing sales can be attributed to the eccentric duo's decision to suddenly move the release date of the project up from its original date of April 8th.
Led by the street single "Umma Do Me," ATL hot boy, Rocko's debut LP Self-Made enters the charts at No. 21 with a woeful 27,800.
Troubled songstress Amy Winehouse comes in at No. 24 after scanning 26,400 copies of her Grammy Award winning album, Back to Black. After 53 weeks on the charts, Winehouse is approaching the double-platinum mark at 1,824,400.
Teen heartthrob, Chris Brown slides four spots to No. 26 with 25,400 copies of his sophomore set, Exclusive sold this week. Rihanna's boo has reached 1,414,100 in sales after 20 weeks.
With the success of her second single "No Air" featuring Chris Breezy, American Idol winner Jordin Sparks continues to climb the charts climbing four spots to No. 29. Scanning 23,800 copies this week, her self-titled gold debut has experienced a 35% increase pushing her grand total to 595,400.
The "Queen of Hip-Hop Soul," Mary J. Blige falls nine spots to No. 32, selling 20,000 copies of Growing Pains. After fourteen weeks, Blige's eighth disc has scanned 1,362,000 albums.
Keyshia Cole drops down to No. 36 this week, with 18,900 copies of her sophomore album Just Like You sold. The Bay area beauty has amassed 1,286,900 albums sold.
Erykah Badu's New Amerykah Part One (4th World War), plummets from No.9 to No. 37 this week, experiencing a 46% decrease in sales with 18,900 copies scanned. Badu's critically acclaimed LP has totaled 219,300.
Lox lieutenant, Sheek Louch Silverback Gorilla debuts at No. 41 with 17,800 units sold.
Black Eyed Pea singer Fergie stays alive moving up five spots to No. 42. The Dutchess moved 17,100 copies this week pushing her album to an astounding 3,531,000.
Next week look for Day 26 to make an appearance on the charts.
