New Orleans rapper Lil' Wayne is readying the spring release of his long awaited album Tha Carter III.
Weezy plans to deliver his sixth solo project, Tha Carter III, this May, which will be his first solo release since 2005's Tha Carter II. Weezy recently released the first official single off the new project "Lollipop" which was produced by Jim Jonsin and Darius "Deezle" Harrison.
The song, which features belated singer and producer Static Major, opened at # 56 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
In previous interviews, Wayne revealed that Hurricane Chris, Corey Gunz, Tyga, Jibbs, Shanell, Kidd Kidd, Mack Maine, Lil Mama, and Kanye West have all recorded verses for the album.
"It's one of those albums people are really waiting on, so I made it so that whatever is on it will stick with you forever," Wayne told Billboard of the project. "I'm taking my time with it. And I'm giving artists I respect and people I want to do songs with -- not songs the label fixed -- an opportunity to collaborate."
The much anticipated project will close out Weezy's Tha Carter trilogy, including 2004's Tha Carter and 2005's Tha Carter II, which were RIAA certified gold and platinum respectively.
Tha Carter III is scheduled to hit stores May 13th via Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Motown Recordings.
