West Coast crooner Nate Dogg pled guilty to battery and trespassing charges stemming from an incident that happened two years ago involving his ex-girlfriend.
According to TMZ, Nate pled guilty in an Orange County, California court on March 20 to aggravated trespassing and battery. The former Death Row artist was sentenced to three years of informal probation and must also complete a domestic violence/batterers treatment program. As part of the agreement, he can also not own a weapon for 10 years.
Nate Dogg was originally charged with five misdemeanors, including aggravated trespass of a dwelling, battery, annoying telephone calls, dissuading a witness from reporting a crime and violating a protective order from a previous domestic violence incident. Three of the original five charges were eventually dropped.
He was charged after breaking into a Huntington Beach home where his ex-girlfriend, her boyfriend, and her mother lived. Nate Dogg reportedly punched the woman's boyfriend in the face and left the home, resulting in the woman and her boyfriend both filing restraining orders against him.
In addition to legal problems, Nate has also been experiencing health problems as of late. He recently completed a week-long hospital stay in Pamona, California after suffering from a stroke this past December.
Nate (born Nathaniel Hale) made a name for himself crooning on hip-hop hooks. The cousin of Snoop Dogg, Nate debuted with a guest spot on Dr. Dre's 1992 classic, The Chronic and since then has been featured on over 60 singles, including "Regulate" with Warren G, "Area Codes" with Ludacris, and "The Next Episode" with Snoop and Dr. Dre. Nate was also part of the group 213 with Snoop and Warren G and has released several solo albums for Interscope and the now defunct, Elektra Records.
