On Sunday, the fifth and final season of HBO's hit series, The Wire, came to a close, leaving its stars to find new projects. In this exclusive interview, Felicia "Snoop" Pearson reveals plans for a film based on her life and a career as a rapper.
Snoop Pearson was thrust into the spotlight when a chance meeting with Michael K. Williams, who played Omar on The Wire, led to a recurring role on the series. Now that the show is over, the young actress is preparing to capitalize on her success by turning her 2007 memoir, Grace After Midnight, into a film.
Though she does have some other movie and television roles in the works, Snoop is not going to limit herself to just acting. "I'm just into everything," she said. "I'm ready to start rapping."
The Baltimore born actress has already hit the studio to record tracks which she said will focus on her own past experiences. "I been living in the jungle, well, the ghetto whatever you wanna call it, all my life," she offered.
"Just put your words together man, that's all it is. All the pain I went through, I'ma put it on a beat or something."
Snoop isn't the only Wire star who is turning to a career in music. Maestro Harrell, the actor who plays Randy Wagstaff, inked a deal with Jermaine Dupri's So So Def label back in 2005, and Tristan Wilds, best known for his portrayal of the silent killer Michael Lee, has also expressed his interest in grabbing a mic. "I'm just trying to stay busy," he told SOHH. "I'm working on my music. I rap, sing, I write a little bit. I do a little bit of everything."
