Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst is looking to direct a New Dimension film project starring Ice Cube.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Durst is currently in negotiations to direct Comeback, the inspirational story of 11-year-old quarterback Jasmine Plummer, who led her little league football team, the Harvey Colts, to the Pop Warner Super Bowl as the first female player in league history.

Comeback stars Ice Cube, as Plummer's uncle, a former high school football star, and centers on the poor Illinois town that is uplifted by the team's success.

The spec script for Comeback was written by former writer/co-producer of the television show "The Guardian," Nick Santora, who read an article about Plummer and convinced her family to sell him the rights to their story. Santora spent five years unsuccessfully pitching the project before hooking Cube, who will also produce the film alongside Santora and Cube Vision partner Matt Alvarez.

"The lead was an 11-year-old African-American girl," Santora said. "It was a tough sell."

Dimension Films has since signed on to release the film. Akeelah and The Bee writer, Doug Atchison has been recruited to rewrite the screenplay for Comeback.

If Durst's role is finalized, it won't be his first time in the director's seat. He recently directed another drama, The Education of Charlie Banks.

Nick Santora is currently a writer/executive producer on "Prison Break" as well as the co-creator of "Beauty and The Geek." Ice Cube most recently starred in the comedy sequel Are We Done Yet? and next appears in the crime comedy First Sunday.
