Along with showing love to Young Money’s Drake, Angie turned things up a notch by letting the “King of New York” take over her airwaves.

Angie kicked the show off with Drake’s “0-100,” and has continued to play the hits throughout the show. Angie also thanked everyone for their support in her transition to her new job at Power 105 before teasing an upcoming interview with Puff Daddy in the coming weeks. UPDATE: Of course, Angie’s first show on Power 105 ended with a phone call from none other than Jay Z, who was in the Hamptons for his day off. He offered Angie good luck and some advice, and promised her that she will be successful in her new job. “You’re not termed ‘The Voice of New York’ for no reason,” he said. (Complex)

Prior to her broadcast, Martinez hyped up the moment via social media.

“feels like the first day of school! ???? going live in 15 mins on @power1051 ???? #Day1 http://instagram.com/p/qj5_b4t6NY/,” Angie tweeted July 17. (Angie Martinez’s Twitter)

Angie is reportedly making serious bank since joining a new team.

Music insiders are buzzing that when popular disc jockey Angie Martinez jumped ship to Power 105. 1 two weeks ago, after 15 years at Hot 97, she doubled her pay. Sources tell Page Six that Clear Channel, which owns Power 105.1, offered Martinez a figure in the “high six figures.” Martinez, who was a co-host of Hot 97’s “Afternoon Drive” broadcast with DJ Enuff, will be hosting two four-hour shows in New York and Miami (Martinez’s rep had no comment). Recently, Angie detailed the emotional ride she experienced since announcing her departure.

“People keep texting me like this is such a big deal and keep forwarding me links to things,” she says, surprised by the hoopla since the announcement. “I’ve really tried to keep a quiet mind about it. I’m trying not to read too much of the comments on social media or too much stuff about it in general. It’s emotional enough for me, and I just want to look forward and not get too wrapped up in the noise.” (Billboard)
