Detroit's Angel Haze has publicly vouched her support for twerk sensation Miley Cyrus and cited a notable major news publication for focusing on the 20-year-old's buzzing dance moves.

Haze unleashed her fury onto Twitter Friday (September 6) and singled out the Washington Post.

“Recently been asked about @MileyCyrus way too much. Was particularly perturbed by the whole washington post thing. Let me just vocalize,” she tweeted.

“How utterly f*cking stupid I think it is for a national news publication to post that her dancing is why things like Steubenville happen.”

“That is terrible journalism, slut shaming, and complete and total idiocy all at once. If @MileyCyrus wants to dance, let her.”

“A female dancing doesn’t mean she’s “asking to be raped.” Quite frankly, if she is not doing it on you, it is not for you.”

“Women are allowed to not feel enslaved by any opinion that suggests that the display of any sort of sexuality is wrong.”

“Die, you are what’s wrong with the world, it’s 2013.”

“You should know by now that the word “no” does not have various meanings and is not to be taken as anything but no.”

“I just don’t get it.” (Angel Haze’s Twitter)

Earlier this week, a Washington Post columnist put Miley on blast for her publicized twerking.

“Miley Cyrus twerked. I had to look up the word since my indefatigable spell checker had no idea what I meant. I discovered from Wikipedia that twerking “involves a person, usually a woman, shaking her hips in an up-and-down bouncing motion, causing the dancer to shake, ‘wobble’ and ‘jiggle.’?” That’s precisely what Cyrus did at the recent MTV Video Music Awards, for which she has been amply and justifiably criticized. She’s a cheap act, no doubt about it, but for me her performance was an opportunity to discuss one of the summer’s most arresting pieces of journalism — a long New Yorker account of what became known as the Steubenville Rape. Cyrus should read it.” (The Washington Post)

Despite the backlash she has received since grinding on R&B singer Robin Thicke at the MTV VMAs, Miley has stood behind her live set.

Miley isn’t about to back down. She did what she came to do, nailed it, and feels great about it. “What’s amazing is I think now, we’re three days later and people are still talking about it. They’re over thinking it,” she says. “You’re thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn’t even think about it ’cause that’s just me.” (MTV)

The 20-year-old even likened herself to past VMAs standouts like Madonna and Britney Spears.

And, to that point, Cyrus isn’t going to let her detractors hold her back. She’s doing things her way, defining her career on her own terms. After all, though she may be just 20 years old, she certainly knows a thing or two about pop history. “I don’t pay attention to the negative because I’ve seen this play out so many times,” Miley asks, “How many times have we seen this play out in pop music?” “Madonna’s done it. Britney’s done it. Every VMA performance, that’s what you’re looking for; you’re wanting to make history.” (MTV)
