According to Drake’s producer 40, Andre reached out to get on the LP.

Back in the control room, there’s a pillowy mid-tempo beat on loop, with muffled drum sounds and a whale-like synth bassline that Shebib is improvising on a small keyboard. It’s a two-track instrumental from December 2009, which Drake had asked Shebib to try to find. The night before, Drake received a call from Andre 3000, who said he wanted to get on the rapper’s next LP–and, specifically, on a beat made by 40. The original name of the instrumental was “Good Enough for the Both of Us.” “What a sh*tty title!” Drake says. Suddenly they switch to boardroom mode. Drake, 40, and Drake’s DJ, Future the Prince, discuss Andre 3000 in frank, mathematical terms: the timbre of his voice, the cadences he prefers. They recall his obscure “Walk it Out” freestyle and the run of features since then, and talk about how their instrumental could be modified to better suit Andre’s delivery. (The FADER)

Last October, the Canadian-bred emee spoke on his long-awaited wish to collaborate with Dre.

“It was cool,” he said of appearing on the “Deuces” remix with his idol. “I love the remix and stuff, but when I say I wanna work with him I really wanna pull him into my world or go into his world or do something where it’s a song that I’ve created from the ground up, where he raps and, hopefully, I could sort of shape the direction of the song a bit more…For me, ‘Deuces’ was cool and all and obviously being on a song with him for the first time was amazing but it doesn’t satisfy my urge to work with him. That’s still very much alive and I really wanna work with him on something that’s my own.” [sic] (XXL Mag)

In July 2010, producer Swizz Beatz said Andre 3000 was originally considered for Drake’s  Thank Me Later single, “Fancy”.

“Andre 3000 was supposed to be on ‘Fancy,’ ” Swizz revealed. “Drake had a group of people he wanted to be on it: Andre, Tip, this one, that one. But the deadline for the album rushed a lot of things. [Drake] can tell you the rest, but Tip just wound up being on it. Which I’m cool with, cause that’s the homie.” (MTV)

Last year, Drake said he planned on working with Three Stacks for his sophomore album.

“I really tried to do a song with Andre 3000, but I think it was meant for my second album,” Drake said in an interview. “Dre is one of those people that needs you to do a little more. He’s one of those people that believe in his craft so much that he needs you to do more than just be over hyped or just famous. In his mind, I have to prove myself and the truth is, I do. That’s just being real. I have a lot of work to do, so I actually respect him for that. I think on the second album I’ll probably only have two features. I have a few people in mind and Dre probably will be one of them.” (VIBE)

Take Care is slated to hit stores Tuesday, November 15th.
