In Chainz’s perspective, he does not want to rush a joint effort and said an ideal collaboration with both artists will be one for the ages.

“For people that I’m huge fans of like Jay Z and Andre 3000, I feel like [there are] certain times in my career to do these songs,” 2 Chainz explained. “You don’t want them to be too early — you want them to be movies, you want them to be events. So for Me Time, I have a few features but I’m really showing my ass on this.” (MTV)

This week, Deuce said a conversation with close pal Kanye West persuaded him to reconsider trying to add Jigga to the LP.

“I see who Hov rocks with. Hov rocks with people who he respect and who has glimpses of trap on their resume. I’m a recovering d-boy. I’m a recovering d-boy and he is, too,” Chainz said in an interview. “I do have something I thought would be cool for this album, but I got to talkin’ to ‘Ye. I’m like, ‘Ye, what you think about putting Hov on this one? He was like, ‘Me Time,’ in all caps. He just told me just to go hard on n*ggas.” (“Whoolywood Shuffle”)

Recently, Chainz revealed the project is finished and would have around 14 to 15 tracks.

“No that’s pretty much done. I’m just finishing up the mixing. I’m adding a few samples, taking away a few samples. I’m still arranging the album too and also getting the credits right to make that side of the business is taken care of. [Who’s on the album?] I’m not telling you. … Actually, I will tell you I got Pharrell on there.” (Village Voice)

Chainz recently broke down the meaning behind his new album’s title.

“Me Time has multiple meanings. I feel like my music actually gives people a sense of going away sometimes — without really going on vacation,” Chainz told MTV News backstage on Saturday at his show-stopping performance at Hot 107.9’s Birthday Bash concert in Atlanta. “I feel like when people listen to me, they feel like they’re goin’ somewhere, taking time off; they’re relaxing, lettin’ their hair down,” the dreadlocked MC said reflectively. “Every time somebody wants to have some ‘me time’ or whatever, this is the type of vibe, this is the type of project [to listen to]. I’m putting together different sounds to make people be like, ‘This is about me. Me and my people, this is our time.'” (MTV)

Based On A T.R.U. Story 2: Me Time is slated to for release on September 10.
