Talking to paparazzi, Alchemist spilled the beans on what is forming.

The DJ in question — named The Alchemist — dropped the bombshell in L.A. recently .. telling TMZ, “I’m working on a joint with Vanilli … Vanilli’s making a comeback.” And according to the Alchemist, Vanilli — real name Fab Morvan — is bringing his real voice to the recording sessions, adding, it’s “real sh*t dude … Alchemist-Vanilli.” We spoke with Vanilli’s rep — who tells us Fab is DEFINITELY serious about his comeback … and has recently worked with DJ Tiesto … one of the biggest DJs in the world. Milli Vanilli are infamously known for winning — having to return– a Grammy in the 1990’s.

In the late 80s and early 90s, Milli Vanilli saw worldwide fame that came crashing down when it was revealed that Morvan and partner Rob Pilatus were not the actual singers and were lip-synching to backing tracks. The Grammy they won in 1990 was revoked. Morvan and Pilatus released an album later on using their own voices, though it was a commercial failure. (All Media NY)

Pilatus later found himself in legal troubles and eventually died from a drug overdose in 1998.

Beginning in 1995, he was arrested for several separate incidents in Los Angeles involving assaults (including one man he attacked with a metal lamp base), vandalism, and attempting to break into a car. Convicted of four different misdemeanors, he was sentenced to several months in jail in 1996, and did the first of numerous stints in drug rehab centers for his cocaine addiction. Pilatus eventually returned to Germany; in April 1998, his body was found in a Frankfurt hotel room after he mixed a fatal combination of pills and alcohol. Morvan continues to pursue a solo career. Outside of Vanilli talk, Alchemist recently opened up about Mobb Deep’s Prodigy returning home after three years in jail.

“He’s home man,” Alchemist told reporters with a smile when asked about Prodigy. “[Our studio sessions?] Outstanding. He came right back to the ground running. That sh*t was kind of amazing. I’ve never seen anybody, no disrespect, it’s not a Shyne situation. No disrespect, but he’s like better than before. He sounds young — he’s got a book that’s like the size of a phone book — it’s just like scripts…The energy’s real good. Him andHavoc are perfect — he’s go the right people around, I’m over there making some sh*t, Hav’s making some sh*t. It’s really internal.” (VIBE)
