Music star Akon has reportedly taken responsibility and the necessary steps to becoming the legal father of two boys born in the late 2000's out of wedlock.
According to reports, Akon has sought out legal custody of the kids.
Akon “smacked that” … and now he’s taking responsibility for it — filing paternity docs in court last month to become the legal father of two children he had out of wedlock. The singer filed a Petition for Legitimation in GA Superior Court … he claims he’s the father of two minor sons born in 2008 and 2009. In the docs, Akon asks the court to grant him joint legal custody of the little tykes, allow him to be involved in all major decisions and most importantly to establish child support — even asking that his enormously high income be a factor in how much he’ll have to shell out. Akon reportedly never shunned his connection to the boys but is now ready to take legal responsiblity.
Not only that … he’s also requesting the kids be eligible to inherit from him — same as if they were born in wedlock — and to keep his last name, “Thiam” as their own. Sources close to the singer tell TMZ, “Akon has been a father to the boys since they were born, and this is just a necessary step to make sure he is legally recognized as such.” FYI — Akon has made it clear in the past he has multiple kids with at least 3 different baby mamas. Back in October 2009, the popular singer caught heat for reportedly avoiding child support payments.
Akon’s baby mother is still allegedly chasing behind her ex for child support payments, but according to Akon she needs to look harder. Farrah Coleman, the mother of one of Akon’s kids, claims the Senegal-born singer hasn’t been paying his child support for the one child they have together. Every time attempts are made to file him legal papers, he’s allegedly nowhere to be found. She’s now threatening to take an ad out in Monday’s edition of the Los Angeles Times. (VIBE)
Three years ago, Akon relished the fact he had fathered multiple children.
“I think kids are a blessing,” Akon told NyDailyNews on Wednesday . “[To set the record straight], I never ran away from my responsibilities and I never plan to. Everything I am doing now is for [my other five kids] anyway, so the more kids I can have, the better. I just love them.” With five kids in tow, and two more kids under the age of six months, looks like singer Akon is well on his way to fulfilling his dreams of having a big family. The singer is a father again for the sixth time thanks to a young lady named Susan Owori, who he met while on tour in Uganda last year. As for his baby with Susan, Akon said, “It’s a boy and he’s handsome as hell.” (Black Celeb Kids)
