“Ain’t No Raw MC In The Game That’s Rawer Than Me”

Newly signed Maybach Music Group artist Pill has defended Rick Ross' decision to ink him to his record label and described what he brings to a table which already consists of rap newcomers like Wale and Meek Mill.

Pill believes his credibility on and off the street cements his position on Ross’ Maybach Music Group roster.

“I bring a reality. I bring that reality back. I paint pictures out of the hood. My music is complimenting their style. I like to document all the shit I’ve been through and I don’t think anybody can do that better than me. Ain’t no raw MC in the game that’s rawer than me. I documented my shit. Whatever I rapped about I showed it to you. When you’ve got that much credibility, there ain’t anyone else with that much credibility. When you’ve got somebody that raw and that intelligent that can touch on all angles and come from every side with it and be able to clarify it and also be able to give you stories, whatever angle it may be, it’s a true testimony. If I’m on a track with Ross or whoever it may be I can switch to any subject. It’s always going to be clarity with me. I think I bring more versatility than any other artist in the game.” (XXL Mag)

A few weeks after the February signing, Pill revealed his post-announcement reaction.

“It’s an honor being part of MMG,” Pill said in a video. “Seeing what Ross did with his movement. I said, ‘It’s only right that I make that next step.’ … I remember listening to all of [Ross’] sh*t and being like, ‘Man how the f*ck does he pick those beats?’ I don’t got that formula and it’s only right that you put Pill with the formula and let my formula combine with it. Then we’ll go on and take it to the sky. There’s no time to waste.” (Dre Films)

Last month, Ross made headlines for signing the first lady of Maybach Music.

I gotta say, even I didn’t see this one coming. With all the rappers Ricky has been signing, it begs wondering whether a vocalist would be in the works and now, songstress Teedra Moses has joined the fold over at Maybach Music Group. Ms. Moses hinted at the deal in a recent interview with Vibe and how now officially changed her Twitter bio to “Maybach Group Soulstar”. If you’re not up on her music, be sure and check out her debut project Complex Simplicity, which is one of the greatest R&B/Neo-Soul albums ever. (Y2K Daily)

Maybach Music’s first release will be an upcoming compilation album.

“The biggest compilation in recent time, man,” Ross told radio host Bootleg Kev. “We going back to the era of the dope emcees, when Ruff Ryders was doing compilations and you just love the energy the dudes brought to the table…The new album from Maybach Music/Warner. It’s gonna be big…Yeah, yeah, [Drake‘ll be on there], most definitely. Drake will be on the compilation and you know that’s the homie so it’s all love. He’s embracing the movement and you know, it just feels good to rock out with your family. Shout-out to YMCMB.” (Bootleg Kev)

Self Made is currently slated to hit retail stores Tuesday, May 24th.
