Aiko has officially kicked off the campaign with the renowned non-profit organization.

It’s been a busy year for R&B singer Jhené Aiko, with Drake and Childish Gambino collaborations to her name and her first studio album, Souled Out, set to drop in just a few weeks. But that didn’t stop the “To Love & Die” singer from sitting down with peta2, PETA’s youth division, to shoot a brand-new ad campaign that features her snuggling with a rescued cat next to the words “Adoption Is Love. Save a Homeless Dog or Cat.” (Press Release)

Aiko decided to join the movement after visiting a local animal shelter.

Aiko was inspired to get involved with peta2 after she and her young daughter adopted a cat from their local animal shelter—and as Aiko explains in an exclusive video interview with peta2 , she didn’t hesitate to go straight to an animal shelter. “There are so many animals in the shelters that need homes,” she says. “I just feel like it’s better to give those animals a second chance, rather than go out to a breeder or a shop.” (Press Release)

A photo of Aiko taking part in a PETA campaign surfaced online back in June.

Jhené Aiko is getting frisky in a new campaign for peta2, the largest youth animal rights group. The cat lover cozies up to a feline friend in a behind-the-scenes pic from the shoot. “Ty for using your beautiful voice to speak out for animals,” PETA told the “Bed Peace” singer. Jhené joins the list of PETA supporters including TLC’s Chilli, Pink, Jay Sean, and Waka Flocka Flame, who posed nude for the “Ink, Not Mink” campaign. (Rap-Up)

A few years ago, rap star Waka Flocka teamed up with PETA for a canine-friendly campaign.

Atlanta-based Brick Squad hip-hop artist Waka Flocka Flame never stops when it comes to raising awareness about animal protection. In advance of his sophomore album Triple F Life: Friends, Fans & Family, Waka earns a “Round of Applause” from animals everywhere for his second PETA ad, which is aimed at stopping chaining, fighting, and other abuse of dogs. Waka’s adorable co-star in the ad is Daphna, a rescued dog from the Atlanta Humane Society who is named after PETA’s vice president of cruelty investigations. (Crunk & Disorderly)
