Details of Flav’s unexpected run-in with law enforcement bubbled online Thursday (January 9).

Flavor Flav was arrested today in Hempstead, NY in a bizarre bust … triggered by the fact Flav had 16 suspensions on his license — yes, 16. According to cops … Flav was driving a black Hyundai when cops spotted him … claiming he was driving 79 in a 55 zone. Upon further investigation … troopers discovered Flav had 16 license suspensions. (TMZ)

Despite the high-profile arrest, Flav managed to spend minimal time in police custody.

Law enforcement tells TMZ … Flav had a variety of unpaid tickets that resulted in the suspensions. In addition, they found a small amount of marijuana. Flav was arrested for felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle. He was booked, released without bail and went on to attend his mother’s funeral. We don’t know how he got to his mom’s funeral — hoping he didn’t drive. (TMZ)

Last week, Flavor Flav broke sad news about his mother’s passing

“Hey everybody I just lost my mother Anna Drayton thismorning newyears eve she passed away and I’m gonna miss her. She lived good a good life,” Flav tweeted December 31.

“Thank you to everyone that’s sending me blessings about my Momz ,,, I appreaceate you all of you so much from me and my family FLAVOR FLAV” (Flavor Flav’s Twitter)

A somber message acknowledging the unfortunate passing surfaced onto Public Enemy’s Facebook page.

“Rest In Peace Anna Drayton, mother of Flavor Flav, who sadly passed away last night. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.” (Public Enemy’s Facebook)

According to reports, various musicians sent their condolences to Flav following the news.

Other condolences and tributes came from Salt-N-Pepa, Bootsy Collins and Full Force member Lou “Bowlegged Lou” George, who penned a heartfelt message on Facebook. “On behalf of Full Force, we would like to send prayers of condolences to our good friend William Drayton aka Flavor Flav & his family on the passing of his beloved mother Anna who passed on New Year’s Eve,” George wrote. “She was a wonderful & sweet person who is now up in heaven wearing Gods wings. A few weeks ago we were in the studio working on something special with Flav. He is a great guy & great son.” (BET)
