St. Lunatics’ Nelly is reportedly hard at work on an upcoming country-based project for music label Atom Factory.

According Atom Factory co-president J. Irving, Nelly is putting together a new release.

“He’s a free agent on the label side now, and is working on a country-based “Heartland” EP, which should be really interesting. He may be one of the first hip-hop artists to jump into that space in an authentic way with Florida Georgia Line and Tim McGraw, so we think he has an opportunity to grow that base even more.” (Billboard)

No stranger to the genre, Nelly has worked with country entertainers in the past.

He collaborated with Tim McGraw on “Over and Over” off his 2004 album Suit, and topped the charts with Florida Georgia Line in 2013 on “Cruise (Remix).” His last album, 2013’s M.O., debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard 200. (Rap-Up)

Nelly recently addressed his current legal situation following a publicized drug possession arrest a few weeks ago.

The drug bust went down earlier this month..

Rapper and reality TV star Nelly is facing felony drug charges after being arrested in Tennessee on Saturday. Tennessee Highway Patrol said in a news release that Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes, was pulled over about 9:20 a.m. because the bus he was riding in failed to display a U.S. Department of Transportation and International Fuel Tax Association sticker.
