A week away from Em’s album hitting store shelves, the new track is catching buzz across the Internet.

Eminem and Rihanna topped the charts for seven weeks with their 2010 smash “Love the Way You Lie.” Just in time for Halloween, the dynamic duo reunites for “The Monster,” the haunting new single off Eminem’s upcoming album The Marshall Mathers LP 2, due November 5. “I’m friends with the monster that’s under my bed/ Get along with the voices inside of my head/ Keep tryin’ to save me/ Stop holding your breath/ And you think I’m crazy/ Well that’s not fair,” sings RiRi. In addition to Rihanna, MMLP2 also features Kendrick Lamar, Skylar Grey, and fun.’s Nate Ruess, with executive producers Dr. Dre and Rick Rubin. The deluxe adds five songs including collaborations with Sia and Jaime N Commons. (Rap-Up)

Recently, Slaughterhouse’s Joe Budden said Shady’s upcoming LP will be a rap fan’s dream come true.

Thus far, Em has dropped a few singles for the lyrical nerds, including the most recent “Rap God.” “I think this [album] is for rap fans,” Joe Budden explained. “I think that he’s been inspired as of late and I know he’s been working really hard. I know he has an overabundance of records to choose from and they’re all rap. You can tell that even from the records released like ‘Berzerk’– a real old school Beastie Boys kinda feel, and ‘Rap God’ — where he’s just rapping for six minutes straight.” “He even dyed his hair back to blond, so he’s going back to an earlier time, and I think fans will look forward to that.” (MTV)

Based on an excerpt from his upcoming Rolling Stone feature, Slim Shady details how determined he is with his latest solo offering.

“Right now, I’m probably working harder than I’ve ever worked in my life,” says a sleep-deprived Eminem, gulping diet Red Bull in his suburban Detroit studio. He’s well past deadline (“They keep telling me a different day,” he says) on his new album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 – out November 5th – and the final mixes still aren’t quite done. “Aside from around the time of The Eminem Show, when I was also doing the 8 Mile movie and soundtrack and score and sh*t like that. This is probably the equivalent of that, but all focused on the record.” (Rolling Stone)

Marshall also explains why he deemed it necessary for the thematic follow-up to 2000’s The Marshall Mathers LP meet expectations set by its predecessor.

A lot of fans – including Eminem himself, most days – consider 2000’s original The Marshall Mathers LP his best. So making an album worthy of the name meant recording, and then discarding, dozens of extra songs. “Calling it The Marshall Mathers LP 2, obviously I knew that there might be certain expectations,” he says. “I wouldn’t want to call it that just for the sake of calling it that. I had to make sure that I had the right songs – and just when you think you got it, you listen and you’re like, ‘F*ck, man! I feel like it needs this or that,’ to paint the whole picture.” (Rolling Stone)
