While details are still coming together, Ferg already has plans to drop new music through the growing label later this month.

According to a recent press release, A$AP Mob artist A$AP Ferg has signed a solo deal with Polo Grounds Music/RCA Records, which is the same imprint A$AP Rocky is signed to. This comes just days before the release of Rocky’s debut album LONG.LIVE.A$AP. Ferg’s first official label release will be the iTunes single version of “Work,” his solo smash that has gained a great deal of momentum in recent weeks, getting regular mix-show rotation spins in New York City on Hot 97 and Power 105. Rocky has confirmed the new label situation and congratulated Ferg for his hard work paying off.

“I’m just proud right now because this is everything we wished and hoped for. A$AP Ferg worked hard for this and I put all my faith and backing into him. I feel like ‘Work’ is our generation’s ‘Sippin On Some Syrup’ or ‘Chickenhead,’ it has that feeling.” (Statement)

Recently, Ferg talked about getting a sneak peek at the music industry courtesy of his late father working with various hip-hop moguls in the 1990’s.

“He used to design, he helped Russell Simmons do the Phat Farm cologne, he also helped Puff with the Bad Boy logo. He designed the ‘Bad’ and the ‘Boy’ with the little boy coming out the logo with the Tims on. … He was like the only black guy back then printing shirts on the hip-hop scene, the urban guy. Like before everybody used to go see a bunch of Jews and these big companies but like, black people ain’t really know about that stuff. So they went to go see him. They were going to my grandmother’s house and sitting at the table.” (“Sway in the Morning”)

A$AP Rocky previously spoke to SOHH about signing a deal worth around $3 million to Polo Grounds/RCA Records.

“People tend to make a big deal out of everything. I’m gonna be perfectly honest: I been ‘hearing’ that I’m pretty big. I can go on Twitter and stuff and see that I’m pretty big, but truthfully, I don’t know how big I really am yet. You know? Because it’s happening to me, I can’t really see it like everyone else does. But [being big] is not the most important thing to me at this moment, so I don’t stress that. I’d a dope feeling, but I don’t know if I’m bigger than I was a week ago.” (SOHH)
