New York rapper A$AP Rocky recently took time away from touring with Rihanna and talked about his stance toward the overwhelming number of female hip-hop groupies.

While he is not against them, Rocky offered up some advice and lessons fellow artists should consider when approached by seductive female fans.

“I’m trying to be good, I’m trying to stay out of trouble,” Rocky said in an interview when asked if he has a girlfriend. “Miscellaneous, strange girls are trouble. You don’t even know what ulterior motives they have. … I don’t be trusting girls. It’s like you be chilling with girls and after y’all do something, they be wanting pictures. … Just stay away from girls that are going to get me in trouble. I’m not going to say, don’t smash groupies, I’m just saying try to be as careful as you can. Just try to be careful. I’m trying not to be reckless at all. It’s hard, especially when they’re throwing it at you. It’s nothing like being young and just having the power to bone any chick you want. I always felt like I could bone any chick I want, so it ain’t nothing new. Now it’s just guranteed.” (“The Angie Martinez Show”)

Although still in his 20’s, former G.O.O.D Music member Kid Cudi recently said he has outgrown a need for groupie love.

“It was cool early on, but at 28, it’s a different thing. It’s just not something I’m into. They’re not just f*cking with me. They’re f*cking with whoever is in town. [Laughs.] All these n*ggas getting their d*cks wet straight up. Girls talking about, “I love your music. Where are you from?” I’ll be like, “B*tch, I’m from Maine.”” (Complex)

Last September, rap star Wiz Khalifa dismissed the impact groupies have on his sex life.

Just how much does Wiz love Amber? He doesn’t even peep cell phone pictures of groupies. “Groupies? I don’t do that,” he says with disdain. “My girl said to me, ‘Baby, these b*tches don’t even deserve to breathe your air.’ And I was like, ‘You know what? You right.'” Call it another sort of balancing act. (Complex)

G-Unit’s Lloyd Banks revealed a few steamy groupie stories a couple years ago.

“I’ve done seen a lot, I’ve seen a mother and daughter, I done had a mother and daughter, women in the room already, things like that. Imagine going in your bathroom and somebody come out the closet. It’s been crazy, overwhelming man and I think it helped me, from being with women and so beautiful that you look at them and be like, ‘D*mn, how the f*ck did I get this b*tch?’ It kinda preps you [to think] that everything isn’t always about the looks.” (Blogxilla)

In summer 2010, rap veteran Bun B dished out some groupie advice for hip-hop artists.

“You have to be smarter than your d*ck,” he revealed in an interview. “That’s just being real. When I say that, I mean not allowing sex to make dumb decisions for you to the point where you don’t even allow your brain to interfere. If it just comes down to a physical thing and you let sex lead the way, you are going to be in trouble time and time again…Make sure the n*ggas that surround you have dealt with women on a mature level. Because that’s where the problems starts. A lot of these cats have never really had a woman before, especially the caliber of women that comes with our career. And that’s something that a lot of these cats can’t turn down. You have to make sure you are surrounded by experienced men.” (VIBE)
