New York rapper A$AP Rocky recently revealed what he has in store for 2013, just weeks after releasing his Long. Live. A$AP debut, and why he'll likely pay the consequence for publicly squeezing R&B diva Rihanna's booty last fall.
Rocky said his publicized Video Music Awards televised moment may cost him opportunities to perform at similar ceremonies later this year.
What’s to come for the rest of the year? Well I’m glad you asked. I want everyone to know, I’m running for prettiest motherf*cker ever! Also I hope to be performing at some of the awards show; I hope they call my a**. But they gonna be like “He grabs too much booty!” (Life + Times)
Last fall, Rocky spoke on his now-infamous squeeze on the eye-catching crooner.
“I didn’t mean for the ass grab to be the thing. I don’t fiend for fake publicity sh*t. I’m just a trill n*gga. [Laughs.] Rihanna is what I want to be, as far as having a big core following. She’s very successful. She’s been doing it for years. Think about it. “Pon de Replay”…. So ’05, ’06, ’07, ’08, ’09, ’10, ’11, ’12…. She’s got seven years in this sh*t. Shout-outs to that young lady, and hopefully, with the grace of God, seven years from now, I can say the same.” (Complex)
Back in September, the Harlem emcee also touched up on the unexpected televised moment.
A$AP recently opened the VMA Awards along with Rihanna, for his guest verse on Ri-Ri’s “Cockiness (Love It).” He shocked the crowd when he openly squeezed the pop star’s butt on stage. It was one of the more memorable moments of the night. “It really wasn’t no idea,” he told CBS Local. “It just happened.” He said there was no major blowback from it and he downplayed the notion that it was a “moment” at all. ‘”I thought it was just one of those moments,” he said. “I didn’t know everyone was really talking about it.” (CBS Local)
Prior to gracing the VMAs stage, the rapper revealed he merely had a business-only relationship with the Grammy-winning singer.
“Yeah, yeah, she hit us up,” Rocky told radio personality Bootleg Kev when asked if Rihanna reached out for their “Cockiness” remix. “I got on it ASAP, it was an honor to work with her. [Did we smoke something?] Nah, I didn’t get to do none of that with her yet. [laughs] Yeah man, we’ll probably smoke something. She seems like a cool chick. [I grabbed a lot of Magnums from the table next to us?] I grabbed a lot of Magnums. [laughs] [Rihanna likes to get it in?] Eh, eh, I don’t know about that. I’ve got a girlfriend now, I’ma get in trouble. [laughs] [Is Iggy Azalea my girlfriend?] Oh sh*t. [laughs] Oh, you crazy. Oh…” (Bootleg Kev)
