Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky recently spoke on his growing buzz and what changes he has encountered since entering the hip-hop spotlight last year.
Despite his loyalty, Rocky said people have double-crossed him over the past year.
“I had a lot of close friends stab me in the back for their own greedy desires. I never saw that coming. I never thought my real n*ggas would be on some f*ck sh*t with me, and do wack sh*t. I’m a good n*gga, and a lot of people f*ck with me and then leave with these accusations trying to f*ck up what I worked hard for,” Rocky said in an interview. “For example, the whole thing with SpaceGhostPurrp. I didn’t say anything. He’s putting his foot in his mouth. People are starting to see he’s a racist and crazy and bipolar. I look on the Internet and every time we put something out he gets his Raider Klan people to be like, “You’re biting,” and it’s like, “You’re just mad I’m bigger than you.” His life revolves around hating on me, and this is a guy who used to live in my house. My mom took care of him. Before I had a record deal we were sharing dinner plates and sh*t.” (Complex)
A few days ago, former Rocky affiliate SpaceGhostPurrp allegedly got tangled up in a physical altercation with the A$AP crew.
If you thought you were going to get through today without any hip-hop drama think again because last night in Miami police were forced to break up a fight between SpaceGhostPurrp’s Raider Klan and A$AP Rocky’s A$AP Mob. From what we can piece together from Twitter it seems as if SpaceGhostPurrp and his crew were heckling A$AP Mob while he was performing alongside Danny Brown and Schoolboy Q on the LONGLIVEA$AP Tour. From there things turned physical and there are differing reports about whether or not SpaceGhostPurrp was arrested in the aftermath. (MySpace)
Reports of tension building between Rocky and SpaceGhostPurrp surfaced last summer.
Miami MC-producer, SpaceghostPurrp and the Harlem based ASAP Mob are involved in the latest hip hop beef. According to various reports, the fight started as ASAP Mob member ASAP Twelvy apparently jumped Spaceghost’s Raider Klan partner Matt Stoops which then caused members of the of both groups to launch a twitter feud. While Spaceghost has produced some of Rocky’s best songs, it seems as though the two won’t be working together anytime soon. (The Source)
The producer’s camp also fired viral shots at Rocky earlier in the year.
Fans of both parties may hope the riff’s small enough to be repaired. However, Mostly Junk Food has compiled a lengthy list of tweets that speaks of this being a more serious break-up. As well, a video posted one day ago (and now removed) featured SGP and the Klan with a few disparaging words for Rocky and co. In a way, it’s not surprising. Rocky’s product has changed considerably over the past two years, whether Spaceghost’s sound be the Harlem MC’s conclusive catalyst or not. And there’s bound to be acrimony when two distinctive camps partner, as the numerous Roc-A-Fella camps of yesteryear can attest. (The Smoking Section)
