Drizzy snuck past mega producer DJ Mustard with the most trophies from the taped Atlanta showcase.

At this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards, DJ Mustard walked away with three of the night’s top trophies: DJ of the Year, MVP of the Year, and Producer of the Year. The only artist to win more honors was Drake, who took home four awards of his own, namely Album of the Year for 2013’s Nothing Was the Same, Best Hip-Hop Video and People’s Champ Award (both for the “Worst Behavior” clip), and Best Live Performer. These performances ignited the BET Hip Hop Awards right here…

Brooklyn newcomer Bobby Shmurda performed his infectious “Hot N*gga” at the event.

“Now it’s time to hear from a youngster,” Uncle Snoop said. “But this youngster right here, he represent the birthplace of hip-hop, the East Coast. So if you from Brooklyn, I want you to stand up right now for the hottest rapper right now, Bobby Shmurda!” With only a couple of hits to his name at this point, Bobby looked unfazed by the fact that he was the show’s closer. Running onto the stage with the same swagger we’ve seen him don on other stages. And he looked even more comfortable once his crew ran onstage during the performance. (The Boom Box)

BET also made sure to pay homage to slain Missouri teenager Michael Brown.

However, the most emotional performance goes to Common, Vince Staples, and Jay Electronica. The three emcees performed their “Kingdom” collaboration, and in an act of solidarity, Common brought out Mike Brown’s parents for a moment of silence. (Global Grind)

Prior to the broadcast, BET released the full list of winners Tuesday (October 14) night.
