Both high-profile celebrities have boxers under the heavily-promoted Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez Saturday (December 8) bill.

It isn’t so surprising that each party has gravitated to boxing promotion. Snooki and 50 Cent have boxers who are fighting on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez HBO Pay-Per-View show at MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday night. Polizzi’s Snooki Boxing Promotion is the co-promoter with Final Round Promotions of Patrick Hyland, an undefeated Irish featherweight (27-0, 12 KOs). Hyland will meet Javier Fortuna (20-0, 15 KOs) for the WBA interim featherweight title. Jackson’s SMS Promotions has Yuriorkis Gamboa (21-0, 16), a Cuban featherweight, who is meeting Michael Farenas (33-3-4, 25 KOs) for the WBA interim super featherweight title. (New York Daily News)

Fif also delved into the business aspect of his new SMS Promotions company and early obstacles.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily News at the undercard press conference at the MGM on Thursday, Jackson said he is aware of the cutthroat nature of promotions from his dealings in the music industry. He knows there are sharks in the water. “I’ll work my way past those obstacles, because I will continue to be surrounded by more great talent moving forward,” Jackson said. “It will create more influence and power where the networks (HBO and Showtime) will have to roll or they will lose the ability to utilize the fighters.” (New York Daily News)

Around mid-November, the G-Unit head officially got approved for a promoter’s license.

Jackson and attorney Leon Margules, who were at the meeting, promised to provide the commission with what it still wanted within a week — two years worth of Jackson’s income tax returns, a financial statement listing the fighters SMS has under contract and a letter stating that the assets that had been in TMT’s name are now in SMS’s name. During questioning from the commission, Jackson said that he and Mayweather had agreed to go into the promotional business together but “as he came out of incarceration (on Aug. 3 after two months in county jail in Las Vegas) he decided he wanted to do things differently, but I had already invested $1.5 million in acquiring fighters and I would like to move forward.” Jackson said there was no written agreement between him and Mayweather regarding the company. Earlier the same month, Fif announced his departure from ex-business partner Floyd Mayweather’s Money Team Promotions.

“TMT IS OVER the money team is no longer a team. So it SMS promotions that’s it thats all.SMSaudio,” he tweeted November 1st.

“SMSpromotions. Catch IBF CHAMPION BILL DIBB VS. JASON VELEZ DEC.1 Cotto’s card lets go New York!!! Don’t miss it”

“SMSpromotions Yuriorkis GAMBOA VS. Miguel Beltran on manny pacquiao card VS. Jaun marquez don’t miss it.”

“I’m no longer apart or down with TMT promotions. SMSaudio” (50 Cent’s Twitter)
