50 Cent Weighs In On Jay-Z & Kanye West’s “Throne”

G-Unit frontman 50 Cent has shared his reaction to Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s upcoming Watch the Throne collaboration album and what the project will mean for hip-hop.

50 believes the combination of Jay and West will create quality music.

MTV News caught up with fellow rap superstar 50 Cent at the Weinstein Golden Globes afterparty on Sunday, and we asked him his thoughts on the big team-up. “It should be interesting,” he said. “When you’ve got two artists, it’s a good combination, good collaborations should come out of it.” (MTV)

Last week, Drake playfully poked fun at Jay and West’s upcoming Throne LP.

“I’ll be on [Tha Carter IV] — [me and Lil Wayne,] we’ve done a great song…We’re going to do another one… and another one. We still got to do that [collaboration] album. I heard two other guys are coming out with an album together, too. There’s two other rappers [that] are coming out with an album together. I don’t know where they got that idea but — I caught wind of it through the grapevine that there’s some other album with two guys rapping on it. [laughs]” (“Tim Westwood TV”)

The album’s first single, “H.A.M.,” landed online January 16th.

The ultimate collaboration of current rap royalty is here, as Kanye West and Jay-Z have unveiled their first single from Watch the Throne, which they’re dubbing “H.A.M.” What might “H.A.M.” stand for? No, it’s not a porky cut of meat you likely ate at Aunt Lucy’s house over the holidays. When Kanye and Jay-Z are involved, the acronym means “hard as a mother——-.” The tune is complete with Roman-style chants, piano solos and all sorts of Kanye-fueled theatrics and grandeur that made his last album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, one of the best-reviewed albums of the year. While neither Jay or Kanye have announced an official release date, the project is speculated to drop in early March.

Despite Ye’s NYE claim that his joint project with Jigga, Watch The Throne, would drop sometime “this week” , sources close to Kanye and Def Jam have informed me that the album has a solid and official release date: March 1st, 2011. I was also told that the official first single, a track the public has yet to hear, is set to drop on January 11th, but could come as soon as Friday. Perhaps, that’s what Kanye meant when he said it was coming this week? (Fake Shore Drive)
