G-Unit head 50 Cent appears back in work mode only hours into 2014 with the unexpected release of his fierce “This Is Murder Not Music” track.

The rapper-turned-executive treated fans to an early ’14 musical delight on Wednesday (January 1).

50 Cent opens 2014 off by releasing a new song called “This Is Murder Not Music.” Going back to his more aggressive roots, he drops a verse that starts with him sitting in a holding cell, and ends with 50 reminding the rest of the game, “I had your style ten years ago I just didn’t use it.” The song then adds a sh*t-talking outro session that lasts over two minutes. 50 is supposed to be releasing a new body of work later this month. Barring any unexpected changes, Fif recently said he would release his Animal Ambition project in the coming weeks.

“I’m going to drop it in January, it’s a full body of work,” Fif revealed. “I wouldn’t call it a mixtape because it’s a higher grade than the material that I put out on mixtapes. I recorded so many album quality songs that I’m going to put the Animal project out as my viral marketing plan and then it will come out after, Street King Immortal.” (Whoolywood Shuffle)

A week prior, Curtis Jackson said his delayed solo effort would be preceded by a new project.

But what about his long-coming album, “Street King Immortal”? Unfortunately, there is no word on the album release yet, but Jackson said he plans to put out a full body of work in January. While he did not label it as an album, he stated that it was more than a mixtape, and that it includes all original material. As to the sound of the release, he said he was “inspired in a whole other direction.” (Huffington Post)

In 2013, Fif revealed his disinterest in rushing out the delayed studio album.

“I don’t really need the money off of the record. I want the record to be right. I’m not doing it without a plan; I’m not putting it out like that,” 50 told MTV News about his long-awaited fifth studio album. The multiplatinum rap king points to his label Interscope and says he won’t make a move until the record company is ready. “It’s a lot of staff changes, a lot of different people moving in and moving out, so you got to kind of wait until everything’s right; until it’s settled in,” he reasoned.
