Mega rapper 50 Cent will help excite Spike TV’s sixth annual “Video Game Awards” this year by performing at the California ceremony next month.
According to the Associated Press, the rapper-turned-actor has been billed to perform his new hit single “Get Up” at the Culver City venue and also showcase exclusive footage from his highly-anticipated game 50 Cent: Blood in the Sand, set to drop in 2009.
Video game nominees have been announced including the mega-selling game Grand Theft Auto IV: Liberty City holding on to eight nominations like “Best Action-Adventure Game” and “Best Performance By a Human Male.” The disc also received a nod for “Best Soundtrack” which includes contributions from DJ Green Lantern, Daddy Yankee, DJ Premier, Mister Cee and more.
Other games competing this year include Metal Gear Solid 4 with seven nods, LittleBigPlanet and Fallout 3 which both received six.
The ceremony will also feature celebrities up for awards due to their vocal contributions in various games. These include Ricky Gervais, Kiefer Sutherland, Liam Neeson, Daniel Craig, Jenny McCarthy, Liv Tyler, Eliza Dushku and Judi Dench.
Spike TV’s “Video Game Awards” is scheduled to broadcast live on Sunday, December 14 from Sony Picture Studios.
In related news, 50’s fourth solo album, Before I Self-Destruct, is set to hit shelves just 5 days before the event. The set, which will also come with a bonus, full length theatrical DVD, features production from Eminem, Dr. Dre and Scott Storch.
