Calling the new album “close to perfect,” Fif described his work ethic when working with Timbo.

“When me and Timbaland go in, a lot of times it’s a compromise,” he explained in an interview. “He’s doing things that’s a little different production-wise from what I would usually do…I can write an R&B song, I can write whatever type of song. If you put a note on it where I can hear it, man, I can write that. We did that, and that’s how I came up with that new cadence for ‘Ayo Technology.’ We did that a couple of times while we was on there working [on Before I Self Destruct]…Even if you ain’t got the words…You’re up there, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.’ Tim will be like, ‘I can’t believe that. He was able to make everything I just made a noise into a real cadence.’ I seen him take pens or pencils into a cup and put it into a shaker. I’m sure nobody else has shaker sounds like that…I seen some interesting things from Timbaland.” (MTV)

Along with Tim, 50 previously said his album’s delay has been due to Dr. Dre‘s involvement with the project.

“My record kinda got moved back because Eminem‘s record will be coming out before me,” he said in an interview earlier this year. “Dre will have completed his project before I can get Dre to finish the pieces I need to complete my project.” (ABC Now)

Fif also said his LP did not drop earlier because he fell under his Shady Records boss’ command.

“Right now I’m on the train and the Em choo choo car goes first,” Fif said in an interview. “See what happens is I think that people forget that I’m actually Eminem’s artist because I’ve had so much success on my own and I moved away from it.” (Associated Press)

The G-Unit leader recently spoke on his past reliance on “club” songs despite his popularity with street records.

“If you don’t make a record that can actually play to a certain amount of audience, there is no possible way you’re going to get the marketing dollars necessary from your system to promote the project to the point that you have the huge successful records that I’ve had. Now I’ve made enough street material prior to Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ for you to forget ‘In Da Club’ was ‘In Da Club.’ And then the Curtis album, I didn’t make any of that music prior to that album and while other artists chose to sing their entire record, I chose to collaborate with other singers and they said that was the weakest album for me because the hip-hop community feels it’s up to me to give them the aggressive content. They don’t believe the other guys have experienced any portion of that lifestyle.” (Hot 97)

Before I Self Destruct is scheduled to hit stores September 2009.
