50 Cent Suspects Foul Play in Chris Lighty’s Suicide: “I Actually Can’t Wrap The Idea Of Him Shooting Himself” [Audio]

G-Unit’s 50 Cent is still struggling with the fact his longtime mentor/friend Chris Lighty has passed away and now reveals he does not fully believe things are as they seem in relation to the late music executive’s suicide.

Speaking to Hot 97’s Angie Martinez, Fif admitted the idea of suicide did not fit Lighty’s profile.

“I actually can’t wrap the idea around my head of him shooting himself,” Fif said. “I don’t have all of the information, so I don’t want to point or say anything other than what’s being said publicly but I don’t believe that. Just ’cause of my personal interactions with him, he never gave any indication that was even possible.” (“The Angie Martinez Show”)

His brother, Dave Lighty, also could not comprehend how Chris could have gone through with a reported suicide.

“I’m surprised, shocked, and lost at this moment. I want the truth to come out. This isn’t my brother. My brother was a strong person, is a strong person. Nothing is adding up. I can’t get a direct answer from anybody…I understand there’s a process to be followed. I can’t even get clear answers from people I think I should be getting clear answers from… I just want to know what really happened to my brother. If he did take his own life, all right, I just wish he could have reached out and spoken to us. We were all here for him. I just want the truth. The truth.” (Fox 5 News)

Earlier this month, the late music head’s wife said Chris struggled with a lot of pain.

Money, not love, may have provoked the suicide of hip-hop mogul Chris Lighty, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head on Thursday. Lighty, 44, who made millions for artists such as 50 Cent and Mariah Carey, was found dead at his Bronx home after fighting with his estranged wife, sources said this week. But his distraught wife, Veronica, 36, is disputing the idea the she fought with Lighty before he took his life.. “He was in a lot of pain and he possibly had some financial difficulties,” said Norman Downes, a friend who spoke on behalf of Veronica Lighty, who was too upset to speak Friday. “But they didn’t get into a fight that day,” Downes insisted. A few days ago, 50 Cent also said Lighty’s passing would not motivate him to call a truce in active rap beefs.

“Nah,” Fif said when asked if Lighty’s passing would encourage him to extend an open hand to music rivals like Fat Joe and Rick Ross. “You know what I think? A lot of times it’s people who choose not to like you. Regardless, you could be across the street from you, they don’t have to have a conversation or have anything to be a source of why they feel that way about you. You can’t [have] that conversation with some of these people so I don’t look to resolve any of that, I just move forward without focusing on it.” (“The Rickey Smiley Morning Show”)
